Is Nash Officially Out?

Not yet, but here is a great little note, passed along from a listener, in regards to how the front office is "selling" the team. In the interest of the "new" policy for media, where the Blazers want to have everything recorded and available to see/hear, I have included the entire e-mail from the ticket account executive, with the exception of his/her name, and the client/listener's name. But pay careful attention to the fourth paragraph.

Hi (Customer),
Thank you for your quick and honest feedback. I understand the last couple of years have been difficult to get excited about, but I ensure you that we will be more competitive and exciting for years to come.

Have you thought about possibly moving to a half season package? This would allow you to keep all of the benefits of a Season Ticket Holder (i.e. Loyalty Reward Discount of 10%, Right of First Request on events at the Rose Garden, premium seat location, Guaranteed Giveaways) and attend only 22 of the 44 home games.

If you could see yourself coming back as a season ticket holder in the near future, when the team is more competitive I would recommend going with a half season. By going to a half season you would be able to keep your Loyalty Reward Discount of 10% and keep you current low priority number so you have a better chance at moving into a prime seat location.

I understand that you don't agree with everything John Nash has done in terms of trades and player personnel decisions, but I wanted to remind you that John Nash's contract expires the end of June so we may have a new GM going in to the draft and off-season.

Let me know if you would would be interested in a half season package, or if you still decide that you are not going to renew your season tickets. I understand that it has been a difficult time to be a Trail Blazers fan, but trust me we will be getting more competitive and become the pride of Portland again real soon.

Now that is something! Hey, keep your tickets because Nash is on his way out! And I thought the radio and media business was brutal!

Nice campaign, and I wonder how difficult it is for Nash to keep pulling the knives in his back out?

One other tidbit-the word is that Paul Allen has left the decision on whether or not to re-hire John Nash in the hands of only one person-Steve Patterson. It will be Patterson's, and only Patterson's decision.

I think you are making something out of nothing...as usual Ian.

It looks to me as if one ticket sales person used a poor choice of words to try and "cheer up\convince" a disgruntled fan and sell a 1/2 season ticket package..

I don't think there is a "bigger picture" here as you suggest..

Here is an idea Ian...How about actually having some positive talk about the Blazers?...especially at this time of year..

All of your constant snickering and bashing of them only makes you sound like a jerk.

Something out of nothing? I don't think so. Does it say Nash is gone, no. But those are some pretty harsh words. The person that wrote that should be reprimanded whether or not the implication is true.

And Ian being a jerk? Bah, I love listening to him and Suke banter.

Their "banter" is fine, and he is fine in most regards...his attitude towards the Blazers though is piss poor..

Hey we all get it Ian...you don't like Pattersen...maybe you don't like Nash or Pritchard either...I don't know...But there is no reason to CONSTANTLY degrade the local team...

Try to add in some positive talk about the Blazers will ya? It's not like they are local or anything....

As for the "ticket mgr's" comments...

Like I said....It sure looks like one guy...trying to convince a fan who hasn't been happy with some of the moves that were made...to buy some tickets...

I agree...the guy used a poor choice of words and should be reprimanded...but let's not try an make this some big orginizational conspiracy, shall we?

I don't think its a conspiracy when just about every move the team seems to make these days is ill-advised and illogical. And even more than that, I get a really sinister sense from the people at the top. I mean let's face it, from everything I've ever read or heard about the guy Steve Patterson is trash.

I know some of you Blazer fans like to see the glass as half full but I'm here to you that it's not half full when its being thrown all over your face. Over and over and over.

Any negative press is simply a reflection of the state of the team. At least a huge majority of the area's population can see this franchise for what it is, so I take comfort in knowing the apologists and/or the clueless are few.

Something out of nothing? to specifically named Nash like that has to say something considering how the organization is trying to lock down on what is said by it's own people.

What a bunch of b.s.

Are you one of Ian's little cronies?

Apologist? LOL...

How about a realist...I think your the one who is being "clueless"
here. I don't think the Blazers are perfect and they certainly have made numerous mistakes...the difference is I don't buy into
the "Blazers are evil\idiots mantra" that guys like Ian & Canzano have venemously spewed for the last...oh....2+ years.

When all you listen to\take as gospel is from what these guys have to say...well...the word "lemming" comes to mind...

Yeah, Pattersen may be a jerk, I wouldn't know....I don't even know the guy. But the ONLY perception of the Blazers being generated by some media members is entirely negative & it has a profound effect on casual fans perception of the Blazers, even if much of what is said\printed is highly questtionable or taken out of context...just like Ian's post today.....

There are two sides to every story and here is a "newsflash" for you....the media isn't always on the "right" side..

The problem with guys like Ian is that they cannot control their snide comments and cannot overcome their personal negative experiences...whatever they may be...to speak from an objective point of view...

There is no reason to speak negatively about the team every time they are brought up Ian...and you constantly do it....

grow up man...

Never let it be said Ian lets the facts get in the way of a good lie.

This is another reason why PDX needs another pro sports team. If we had a baseball team, the off-season moves and letters that team personnel send wouldn't be top local sports news. Unfortunately there's nothing else going on in this town besides the Blazer mess.

I cannot imagine how somebody can try to sell using that words. If true, the only thing you can picture out of that, is an organization in turmoil, completely dismembered, and with no future at all...
The last thing you expect from an organization like the Blazers, is respect for his associates and CURRENT employees.
I (still) love the Blazers, but to write and send that words, is just classless...

Looks to me like a Blazer ticket seller may be on his/her way out the door. How long is it gonna take the organization to find the offending e-mail? Hope their resume is up to date.

Good find Ian. I think it's brutal how much crap Nash is blamed for that really isn't his fault. Fans have to remember that it was most likely Paul Allen who was in love with Darius Miles, and it was probably because of Allen that Miles got a huge contract. Also, had it not been for Patterson's fear of long contracts that kept Vince Carter from coming to Portland via trade.

Absolutely something out of nothing. Come on. There's no definitive statement on Nash and the relations guy was likely responding to something negatively written about Nash by the ticket holder.

What's worse here, to me, is the Oregonian's meat head publishing it like it's something meaningful and nasty.

Yellow.
