Primetime Tuesday-NBA GM Survey, Radio Wars, Tonya, Pac-10 Notebook and More!

Pac-10 Notebook aired at 4:05. I had a chance to talk to Mike Bellotti about his QB depth, or lack thereof, and Kyle Bennett is indeed #3 on the depth chart. He also said that Brady Leaf will probably get snaps in the next three games, much like Dixon did when Clemens was healthy. Also from that segment, ASU Head Coach Dirk Koetter said Sam Keller will be back as the starter at QB this week vs. Washington, despite his sore thumb.

John Canzano will joined us from the World Series at 4:30 today. He said despite what some are telling you, there is major excitement in Houston for the World Series, even though many national hosts are saying otherwise.

RADIO WARS:
We had the final word on "radio wars 2005" at 4:45.

Coming soon: Pictures of me holding my Washington Press Association awards, my Northwest Emmy, and my Utah Sportscaster of the Year award. Why haven't you heard about this before? Simple, because nobody outside of our intimate little business cares. Here is the bottom line:
The "other" station ran something that we produced, they run statio promos that take a direct shot at us (KFXX), and when it comes right down to it, they ARE NOT a sports station. Just because you have a host with two first names who carries a handgun, that doesn't mean the rest of you should act tough and call people out (i.e. "you want some, come get some" or whatever the line was from the Program Director at the "other" station). There are some good people over there, guys like Todd Mansfield. The rest??? The word SCHILL comes to mind.

Tonya's New Trouble
This can't be happening again. The Clark County law enforcement team making their way to Ms. Harding's house.

Here is a question for you: What is a bigger embarrassment for this community-Tonya Harding or the Blazers?

NBA GM Survey: It is out, and the only Blazer mentioned in it, outside of "others receiving votes" was Travis Outlaw.

4. Which player is most likely to have a breakout season in 2005-06?
Dwight Howard 46%
Travis Outlaw 9%
Others receiving votes: Chris Bosh, Primoz Brezec, Tyson Chandler, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Kirk Hinrich, Andre Iguodala, Joe Johnson, Wally Szczerbiak, Sebastian Telfair, Dwyane Wade

At least Outlaw us in the proposed rotation that the Oregonian reported today, although he is only averaging 11 minutes per game in the preseason. Keep in mind, only two players are averaging less MPG than Outlaw, and only one, Ha, is still with the team. The other is Sam Clancy.
The other interesting tidbits from it include:

  • The 25 NBA general managers who responded predicted the San Antonio
Spurs will win their second consecutive NBA title, and fourth in eight
years, led by 2005-06 MVP Tim Duncan.
  • One other note, the division that the GM's expect to be the most compelling is the Northwest where thre teams received at least 12% of the vote (Utah and Portland shockingly didn't get any votes).
